“NO MASK NO ENTRY”

That’s the hat every shop is wearing lately

Everyone looked forward to 2021

That the pandemic will pass the second the clock

struck 00:00

On January 1st

But the nightmare isn't over yet

Parents are dying

Our hearts are breaking

The roads to the cemetery are daily paraded

Though mouths are masked and hands are

sanitized

I get down on my knees every night

Praying

For my family

For my friends

For Africa

For Earth

But the Heavens are quiet

Does He hear us? Does He see us?

When all the lights cease to penetrate at the end

of the tunnel

All we have left is that little verse

To worry not

Because Earth isn’t our home after all.
